Just before 8:30 am, QFD was alerted as part of the first alarm to assist Robert Fulton Fire Company on a house fire in the 100 block of Nottingham Road in Little Britain Township. Chief 89 arrived with a 2.5 story residential with fire showing from the side B/C corner. Assignments were as follows: Engine 89-3 had Division 1 (first floor), Engine 21-1 had Division 2 (2nd floor) and Engine 574 was assigned the Attic Division. All crews had fire in rooms or walls, and in the case of out attic crew, fire in the knee walls. Crews made quick work of knocking the fire down and then spent several hours overhauling the plaster and lathe interior.
Tanker 57 assisted in water supply, Engine 572 assisted Engine 574’s crew and Squad 572 with 57 Fire Police assisted with traffic control.
On the way home, a large column of smoke was noticed to the North, and minutes later Tanker 57 was alerted to assist on a 3rd alarm structure fire in Upper Leacock Township. Christiana Fire Company – Lancaster County, Pennsylvania Tanker 52 was in front of us coming home from Little Britain and also responded to the Upper Leacock fire.
Thanks to everyone who responded or stood by for us while we were out. Volunteers were in service for just under 4 hours on this workday morning. Thanks also to Tom Amico for some of the photos.
