Tuesday night, about 40 members were training with Chief Mike Horst from FAST Rescue Solutions on our FAST Board when a “verbal alarm” to the station reported the building behind the firehouse (Rhoadstar / Milky Haven / R. Work Excavating) on fire. Engine 574 laid a supply line from the bay door into the scene, while the other units responded and set up accordingly. Heavy smoke was throughout the building as crews went to work while the first alarm assignment was being dispatched. Engine 574’s line crew found a mini-excavator on fire and extinguished the same. Ceilings were pulled finding no extension, but a very heavy smoke condition throughout the building. Crews worked for several hours to help remove smoke and finish overhaul.
Thanks to all of the mutual aid companies that responded, including the Fire Police and the QFD Special Division. QFD had 63 members sign the call log.
