At 9:48 am, QFD was alerted to assist the Bart Township Fire Company with a house fire on Mt. Pleasant Road in Bart Township. Initial calls were reporting a farmhouse on fire. 51 Officers arrived with fire showing, and upon doing a 360, found the entire basement involved spreading to the first floor.
Truck 57 took a good position (thanks to Bart 51 consistently leaving room for the truck) and the crew went to work laddering and trying to get a search done. A good portion of the first floor became involved, and the whole first floor was compromised due to failing floor joists. Crews from 51 and 57 pushed in as far as possible and began knocking down the fire as mutual aid arrived and assisted as needed. Crews made it to the 2nd floor via ground ladders and confirmed no one was in the structure.
While this call was in progress, QFD and mutual aid were dispatched to Camargo Road in Providence Township for an accident with entrapment. A crew from the fire scene made up of 57, 42 and 27 responded in Rescue 27 (Cochranville), as well as Refton and Willow Street FC. Crews arrived to find one pinned in a car after striking trees. The crews all worked together to free the patient in 15 minutes.
Back at the fire scene, the crews assisted with overhaul and salvage, returning to clean up by 1:45 pm.
Thanks to everyone who responded and assisted at the two calls. Thanks to Tom Amico and various others for the photos.
