Tuesday Morning Accident on Rt. 222

 September 3, 2019

At 7:15 am Tuesday morning as the work day traffic commenced, Rescue 57 responded to this vehicle accident in the 2200 block of Beaver Valley Pike (Rt. 222) in Providence Township. A vehicle ran off the roadway and down an embankment into high brush and trees, and also struck a utility pole. Luckily, there were no injuries. QFD Fire Police controlled traffic in the area until the vehicle was removed and the pole repaired.

Quarryville Fire Company

At 2 pm, QFD was alerted for a woods fire in the 1600 block of Robert Fulton Highway in Little Britain Township. Brush 57, Tanker 57, Engine 572 and Engine 574 responded

. Deputy 57 arrived with a working woods fire. Crews stretched 3 lines from Brush 57 (800 feet), while Engine 572 and Tanker 57 supplied the scene. Engine 574 accessed the woods from a farm on Fulton View Road. Additional units from Robert Fulton (Engine 89-1 and Tanker 89) and Rawlinsville (Tanker 58) responded to assist with water and manpower. In all, approximately 2 acres of woods burned on this cold and windy day.

Quarryville Fire Company

Just after 5 am Friday morning, QFD Volunteers were alerted to assist the Rawlinsville Fire Company (58) with a barn fire in the 500 block of Drytown Road in Martic Township. Chief 58 arrived with a small barn/building fully involved. Truck 57, Tanker 57 and Engine 574 all made the response.

On arrival, 58 units had the bulk of the fire knocked down. Truck 57 set up to assist with overhaul, as the crews from Truck 57 and Engine 574 assisted in removing siding, contents etc. Tanker 57 supplied Tanker 58 with water. QFD Fire Police and Squad 572 assisted with traffic control. Crews were back in station just before 7 am.
