The members of the Quarryville Fire Company hope everyone has a safe and happy Thanksgiving.

Just after 4:20 am, QFD was alerted for Engine 574, Tanker and Truck 57 to assist the Robert Fulton Fire Company on a barn fire in the first block of Peach Bottom Road in Fulton Township. First arriving 89 officers found a large barn fully involved and requested additional units.

Tanker 57 arrived as the first due tanker and set up the initial water supply as the nurse tanker. Truck 57 set up on for aerial operation and Engine 574 set up to eventually supply Truck 57. QFD Fire Police and Squad 572 directed traffic in the area and at the tanker fill site. Units worked together to protect exposures and then knock the bulk of the fire down with the aerial. A track hoe from Bob Work Excavating was called in to remove several tons of hay. QFD units operated 3 hours.

17 people just on the roof cleaning up, several on the ground. The amish community is indestructible.

At 1:40 pm Tuesday, Rescue 57 was dispatched to assist Bart Township Fire Company on a mobile home fire in the 1700 block of Mine Road in Bart Township. Gap Fire Company Chief 42 arrived shortly after dispatch and reported three non-occupied mobile homes on fire with several other exposures. BTFC upgraded the incident and requested the "Working Fire Dispatch", that alerted Engine 574 and Tanker 57.

QFD units arrived with the Rescue and Engine crews assisting with fire attack and overhaul, and the Tanker operating in the Water Supply. QFD Fire Police assisted in closing down the roadway in the area. QFD was in service about 1.5 hours.

On a side note, our very own FF Craig Hassinger (USAF) was on board Rescue 57 as he is on leave from his assignment at Malmstrom AFB in Montana. We always love to see Craig and his family back in Quarryville and running calls.

On Tuesday June 15th, the bridge on South Lime Street (Rt. 472) between East Second Street and Park Avenue will be closed for replacement. It will not be passable.

If you are a QFD Firefighter or a mutual aid company, to use Rt. 472 to go South from Quarryville, you will have to utilize South Hess Street to Park Avenue to Rt. 472. If you are coming North, you will have to turn left onto Park Avenue then right onto S. Hess Street.
