pThis Tuesday evenings training was Elevator Awareness taught by Battalion Chief Ret Sam Clark.nbsp Sam recently retired as a Battalion Chief in Harrisburg City and has been a lifelong volunteer firefighter.nbspppTha class focused on elevator types construction safety proper ppe tools and various other items that we need to know to safely assist in an elevator emergency.nbsp This was the basic class.nbsp We hope to schedule the Elevator Rescue Operations class in the near future.ppAlthough we do not have a major amount of elevators in our first due area we do have several at our schools churches the QPRC and even some in residential dwellings.nbsp Plus we assist companies that do have a large amount of elevators in their district.ppDuring the tornado on October 19 2012 the company was called to the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community for the possiblility of people stuck in the elevators due to the wide-spread power outtage.nbsp Luckily none were but this drove home the case to renew and refresh our training on elevator operations.ppThanks to Chief Clark for the great class and to the 38 QFD members that attended this 4 hour class.p
