At 2:18 pm Thursday, QFD’s Full Company was alerted to assist Bart Township Fire Company on a barn fire at 31 Quarry Road in Bart Township. As soon as we topped the hill East of the station, we could see a very large column of smoke indicating a working fire.
Bart Township units arrived with a large dairy barn fully involved and requested the working fire dispatch. Engine 51-2 and Engine 51-1 laid 4″ lines in the driveway. Truck 57 backed in the driveway and positioned on the corner with the ability to hit most all of the structure with the master stream. Tanker 57 and Engine 572 assisted in the water supply as Engine 574 and crew worked the fire ground. Crews from multiple mutual aid companies worked together into early evening pulling tin and hitting hot spots while the trackhoes pulled the contents and metal out.
Thanks to all the Volunteers that responded, staffed the station and brought out food. Thanks also to Lampeter Fire Company for standing by for us, and to Tom Amico for the photos.
