Just after 12:30 pm Thursday, Rescue 57 was alerted to assist the West Willow Fire Company on an apartment building fire on Utley Place in Pequea Township. On response, it was reported that the police department was on the scene with a working fire. Rescue 57 arrived, parked out of the way, and the crew was immediately sent to work in an attached exposure to cut-off fire spread. That crew stretched a line to the top floor and pulled the ceilings and walls to stop the extension while Truck 50 knocked down a large volume of fire with the ladder pipe. Other QFD members worked with Lampeter Fire Company No. 1 and West Willow Fire Company crews in the side "B" exposure end unit pulling ceilings to knock down fire in the attic space. Tanker 57 responded on the 2nd alarm and staged in the water supply area, but dumped no water due to sufficient flow from the fire hydrants. QFD members worked 2 hours on this incident. Thanks to Union Fire Company for transferring to our station, and to Don Shenk for the photos from New Danville Fire Co. This was call #100 for the year for QFD members.
