Just after 10:30 am on Tuesday morning, QFD was alerted to assist the Rawlinsville Volunteer Fire Company on a house fire in the 300 block of Bethesda Road West in Martic Township. Multiple 911 calls indicated a working fire.
Tanker 58 arrived first followed by Engine 581 and their crews stretched lines and began fire attack on the 2.5 story residence that had heavy fire involvement throughout the garage and into the 1st floor, 2nd floor and attic. 57 units arrived and assisted with laddering the building, stretching an additional line, setting up the water supply and working inside. A 2nd alarm was struck for additional tankers and manpower. The fire was knocked down and contained within 30 minutes with crews working several hours on mop-up and overhaul.
Thanks to Union Fire Company No. 1 ~ Oxford, PA and Cochranville Fire Company for standing by while we were out and helping us get equipment cleaned and back in service, and to Tom Amico for the photos. Thanks also to all of the members that turned out for the 83rd call and 10th working fire of the year.
