At 12:27 Saturday, Tanker 57 was alerted to respond as part of the water supply assignment on a working building(s) fire on Main Street in Conestoga. Conestoga FC and local mutual aid arrived with a large working fire involving several buildings.
A short while later, Truck 57 and Engine 574 were dispatched to the scene. Truck 57 went to the scene and while enroute, Engine 574 was reassigned to stand by at Lampeter Fire Company’s fire station to cover West Lampeter Twp. and Pequea Twp.
Units on scene operated with fire attack and overhaul. Truck 57 set up on the A/D corner of the apartment house that had heavy fire damage from the extension of the building fire to the rear. Crews worked for several hours with multiple departments. QFD units returned to Quarryville by 5:30 pm.
Thanks to Cochranville FC Tanker 27 for standing by to cover the “Southern End” while a lot of the tankers were at the fire.
