At 3:48 pm, QFD and surrounding mutual aid companies were dispatched to 309 Clearview Road in East Drumore Township for a barn fire. Chief 57 (Neff) responded and was advised of multiple calls indicating a working fire. A large column of smoke was seen in the area, so Chief 57 requested the working fire dispatch and the tanker task force.
On arrival, QFD units put several handlines in service to knock down the fire and to cool a propane tank. Truck 57’s master stream was also used to quickly darken down the fire. Rescue 57 and Engine 572 set up a fill site at QFD Water Supply Site #22 at Hopkins Mill Road and Deaver Road. Members removed tin and overhauled the 35′ X 40′ structure, placing the fire under control at 4:12 pm, and units remaining on scene until 5:15 pm. Fire Police directed traffic around the scene and the fill site.
Thanks to all the mutual aid companies who assisted. Thanks also to Union Fire Company and Cochranville Fire Company for standing by and helping us to clean up.
