At 10:29 am, Rescue 57 was dispatched to the 300 block of Blackburn Road in East Drumore Twp for a vehicle accident with entrapment. LEMSA Medic 56-5 and Rescue 57 arrived to find a vehicle on its roof with a male confined inside and a serious gasoline leak. The crew removed the side of the vehicle and removed the driver, as well as performing spill control and fire suppression (assisted by a passing volunteer firefighter working in the area). Extrication time was 12 minutes from arrival.
During the daytime crews can be limited. At QFD, we are blessed with a good group of people day and night. Today was a day that proved why we train together and work hard at being coordinated and quick. With a limited crew, all jobs were able to be handled quickly with very little communication. Everyone knew their job and performed it, including FF Craig Hassinger who is on leave from the USAF and back in the States from his deployment to Okinawa Japan.
