On Tuesday evening, our crews trained on some new equipment that we have purchased, and some equipment that we may purchase in the future.
The first was a followup training on the new SKED stretcher that we purchased with some of the grant money we received recently. This tool allows us to package and transport a patient more efficiently and faster than with a traditional stokes basket. It also allows us to use it for lifting or lowering in rescue situations from places like a manhole, silo or other confining area.
The second tool we looked at was a FAST Rescue Solutions FAST Board. The board was loaned to us to demo from West Willow Fire Company. This board is used to rescue a downed or injured firefighter, and is rigged to allow quick, easy deployment. Our Company provides Rapid Intervention Standby to numerous fire companies, and we feel this would probably be a good addition to our equipment cache. Thanks to all of the members who reviewed the board, and for West Willow for allowing us to use theirs.
