Wednesday night was a fantastic night for the annual Solanco Fair Parade. Thousands and thousands of people lined the streets for the two-hour parade.
This parade is a major undertaking by the fair committee, Quarryville Borough and the QFD Fire Police. Weeks and weeks of planning and preparation, getting fire police, acquiring extra radios and equipment, setting up barricades and detours, all to make the parade night run smooth.
Thanks to all of the fire police from QFD and all of the mutual aid departments that helped to get traffic into town, and then also out of town when the parade ended. These men and women are the unsung heroes of the night, and without them, traffic would be more of a nightmare than it is on parade night.
Stop by our stand in the lower tent and pick up some fire safety and recruitment materials while you are at the fair.
Thanks to Bob Devonshire for the photos.
