During the course of the summer, we have been fortunate to have an acquired structure in the first due to train in. During May and June, Bart Township Fire Company utilized the structure to get their members trained on their new SCBA’s that they received earlier in the year. Our members were able to work in the building several times doing some basic skills drills, but the summer heat of July had kept some of the training to a minimum. Today, several members from QFD and BTFC finished up our use of the building by conducting some destructive drills. Cutting the roof, advancing handlines and flowing water, pulling ceilings and walls, taking out windows, making windows into doors and doing a “firefighter through the floor” scenario.
Thanks to the members who gave up a few Saturday morning hours to advance their fire skill-sets, and thanks to the property owner for allowing us to use this valuable training asset.
