Maintenance Day 2018
If you are a follower of all things QFD, you know that every year we do our own full-rig maintenance on all of our apparatus in February. 2018 is the first time we were able to do all of this work in the new building with the new and updated equipment.
Some of what we did was: Oil change, oil, fuel and coolant filter change (on all apparatus and generators and the skid pump on Engine 575), windshield wiper change, compartment door lubrication, pump panel control and fitting lube, tire pressure check, air filters and a general check on all suspension, brakes etc. Several other members and some members of the Special Division made breakfast sandwiches and then sausage and corn chowder with “weiner winks” for lunch.
Doing this maintenance in-house saves a lot of money and also brings the members together to work on a common project. A huge thanks to the over 30 QFD members that helped make the day go great, finishing 8 rigs in 8 hours. Without the dedication of these volunteers, this project would be impossible. Thanks also to Chief Engineer Matt Vickers and FF’s Wayne Brion and Carl Weicksel for getting all the parts and tools together to make this happen!
