At 2 am Tuesday morning, QFD was alerted to assist the Rawlinsville Volunteer Fire Company on a house fire in the 100 block of Magnolia Drive in Martic Township. Deputy 58 (Fuhrman) arrived with a two-story dwelling with smoke and fire showing, gave the layout instructions and ordered an offensive attack.
Engine 581 and Tanker 58 made the 1,000’+ driveway and stretched two lines. Engine 574 was also ordered in the driveway, with the line crew stretching a third line and the search crew opening up, placing a ladder and preparing for a search. 58’s lines handled the first floor while the 57 crew went to the second floor, with all crews encountering fire and extinguishing same. Tanker 57 pumped the supply line from the main road while Engine 582 drafted from the large pond next to the driveway. Rescue 57’s crew took RIT and carried all the equipment in the driveway and stood by in case there were any emergencies with the operating crews.
Crews worked throughout the morning doing overhaul and salvage. Luckily, no residents or firefighters were injured. QFD units returned to station to clean up tools and SCBA, finally completing all tasks by 6:30 am. Thanks to Bart Township Fire Company Engine 51-1 and Cochranville Fire CompanyTanker 27 for standing by for us, and to Tom Amico for the photos.
