At 3:24 am Tuesday morning, QFD was alerted to assist the Strasburg Fire Company #1 on a garage fire in the 2800 block of White Oak Road in Eden Township. Units were advised of a detached garage on fire. Assistant 5 arrived with a large garage fully involved and assumed command.
Truck 57 arrived and traversed the 1,700′ narrow driveway through the woods and set up in the main parking area of the residence, putting up the main aerial over another building in position for master stream operations. The crew assisted Bart Township Fire Company in stretching lines. Tanker 57 was the nurse tanker and supplied the 1,700′ lay of 4″ to Engine 512. Engine 574 crew stretched an additional line. Once a water supply was established, the bulk of the fire was knocked down with the master stream on Truck 57. Engine 572 was directed to the pond at Strasburg Pallet, where they laid 600′ of supply line in, got a draft, and filled tankers. The crew got the engine into position, but as normally happens in the Southern End, needed the help of a loader to get it out.
Crews remained on the scene mopping up and cleaning up lines until just after sun-up, returning by 6:00 am so most members could get a shower and go to work.
