At 7:06 pm Saturday evening, QFD and multiple mutual aid companies were sent to the 1st block of Stony Hill Road in Eden Township for a reported house fire. As units responded, a large column of smoke could be seen in the area.
Chief 57-1 (Jeremy Welk) arrived with a 2.5 story dwelling fully involved. The house had fire throughout and a defensive operation was ordered.
Engine 574 arrived a laid out 800′ of 4″ supply line in narrow wooded driveway with the crew deploying a 2.5″ and a 2″ handline. The crew began to darken down the fire as other units and crew arrived to assist. Tanker 57 was the nurse tanker and supplied the scene with the mutual aid tankers.
For the next several hours, volunteers worked on overhauling and hitting hot spots, which was not easy work due to the fact a large portion of the dwelling had collapsed.
Please keep the owners of the property in mind, as they lost most everything.
Thanks to all of the assisting companies and the units that stood by and covered various stations. Thanks also to Bob Devonshire at Photo-5 Imagery for the photos.
