At 6:20 am Tuesday morning, QFD and mutual aid companies were dispatched to the 400 block of Haiti Road in Eden Township for a barn fire. Due to very limited staffing at this time of the day, Truck 57 responded first, knowing that Bart Township Fire Company Engine 51-1 was responding as the Engine. Truck 57 arrived with a 20′ X 30′, two-story shed fully involved. Companies went to work on fire attack and
eventually overhaul. The fire was knocked down quickly utilizing several tankers.
This structure housed industrial grade hemp that was harvested and being prepared for sale. This is the first time we have had a fire involving this new agricultural product.
Thanks to all the assist companies that responded or filled in at our station. Companies were available by 8:30 am.
