A Busy start to the July 4th Week
On July 3rd at 21:30 hours, members stood by for Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park Camp-Resort Quarryville, PA while they had their annual 4th of July fireworks celebration. Once back at station and the crews started to head home, at 23:00 hours the department was alerted for a vehicle fire in the 300 block of Blackburn Rd. Assistant 57-2 arrived on scene to find a fully involved pickup truck that was ten feet from the house. Rescue 57 arrived and crews made a quick knock on the fire keeping it from extending to the house.
On July 4th just a little after 11:00 am members from Quarryville, Bart Township Fire Company, and Robert Fulton Fire Company were alerted for a mobile home fire on Laura Ct in East Drumore Township. County advised they had received calls from neighbors saying they could see smoke coming out of a mobile home. Assistant 57-2 arrived with fire showing side alpha. Engine 57-4 crew arrived, stretched hand lines, and made an interior attack knocking down the bulk of the fire. Bart and Robert Fulton fire departments assisted with RIT and overhaul, a big thank you to all the departments that assisted. With the hot and humid weather, the additional manpower made the work much easier on everyone.
As units were cleaning up and clearing from the mobile home fire on Laura Ct., the pre alert went out for another mobile home fire in Providence Township, Rescue 57 and Tanker 57 responded. Once on scene Rescue 57 crew was assigned RIT, Tanker 57 arrived in staging. A short time later both units were released.
Crews were in service for 4 hours and 30 minutes.
