Maintenance Day 2019

Again this year, over 30 members of the QFD got together and took care of the yearly maintenance on all of our apparatus. This is something we have been doing for many years, and is a great money saver for the Company, and also a fantastic time of camaraderie between the members.

Here are some facts and figures:
All units that needed oil changed had it changed (some units did not need it after having the oil analyzed). All fuel and oil filters changed, Tires pressures checked, all fluids checked and added if needed, new windshield wipers, air dryers filters, brakes and suspensions checked, undercarriages washed, and a full rig washing on everything. The total cost of the day was just over $800.00. Sending rigs out to do this maintenance would cost several thousand dollars and have the units out of service for at least a day each.

A huge lunch of burgers, sausage and corn chowder and sides was prepared by Jim Hassinger and the Special Division Committee. We were also surprised by a group of kids from Wrightsdale Baptist Church who dropped of cookies and cards for the members.

Thank You to everyone who attended and helped out with any part of the day. Thanks also to the local businesses that donated items for us to use.

It is almost time once again for the Quarryville Fire Company Spring Ham Shoot and Gun Raffle !! This years event is on Saturday, March 9th at the Quarryville Fire Station (217 East State Street). Doors will be open by 4:30 pm, with the block shoot starting at 5:00 pm. There will be 15 ham rounds, 3 cash rounds, a kids round, ladies round and 2 grand prize gun rounds.

New this time, we will be raffling off a kayak, and there will be chances on a smoker, fishing tackle, corn hole boards and many other prizes. We will also have our table gun raffle with a choice of some very great firearms.
