At 7:45 am, LEMSA and QFD Volunteers were alerted to a vehicle accident in the 300 block of Wesley Road in East Drumore Township. Initial reports were of a vehicle over an embankment. QFD FF Mike Tome arrived first and reported an SUV with a subject trapped. The vehicle left Blackburn Road and rolled down the embankment and into a tree at Wesley Rd.
Rescue 57 and Engine 572 arrived and the crew immediately stabilized the vehicle and removed a downed tree. While medics stabilized the patient, the crew removed doors and the roof of the vehicle to free the patient. Extrication time of 17 minutes from arrival of the Rescue.
QFD Fire Police directed traffic in the area while the extrication took place. Good work to all involved. We wish the patient a speedy recovery.
On a side note, this is the first time that we had four Singles’ on the first arriving unit. QFD Life Member Kevin driving, son Jonathon riding, Kevin’s brother Keith, a retired career FF and Volunteer in VA and his son Steven, also a Volunteer in VA. Keith and Steven were in town to visit and attend Fire Expo.
