Today, Engine 572 and crew traveled to Harrisburg for the annual Pennsylvania Pump Primers Muster. The day starts with apparatus staging and fellowship at the Farm Show complex, and then proceeds through Harrisburg with a “lights and sirens” parade to Riverfront Park. At the waterside, the units of all ages draft and flow water to show off the skills of an era gone by. Some of the rigs are not even motorized.
Engine 572 is 31 years old, and has seen hundreds of fires over its career in Quarryville. The rig has never been refurbished, and can still hold its own with the newer apparatus. Unfortunately, it is starting to show its age with rust taking over a good portion of its chassis. Engine 2 flowed well over 100,000 gallons today.
