During the very hot and humid July 4th week, QFD was kept busy with running 19 calls and handling several other details, such as the Company meeting and several fireworks stand-bys. Most of the calls were in the QFD first due area, with an assist to Union FC on a building fire in Elk Township Chester County and an Engine Company transfer to Rising Sun MD. Luckily, most of the calls were minor in nature (investigations, brush fires, alarms, medical assists etc).
Two of the more serious calls were vehicle accidents. The first was on Rt. 222 at Camargo Road in Providence Township, and the second was in the 100 block of Conowingo Road in East Drumore Township.
Fortunately, the responding volunteers were able to keep hydrated and cooled on these runs during the heat wave, and no injuries to any members were incurred.
